Job summary

Hartford HealthCare’s St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect venous and capillary blood samples with care and precision. You will work with PPE, adhere to OSHA standards, and provide excellent patient service while learning hospital lab systems.

Applicants should have a High School diploma or equivalent and knowledge of venipuncture techniques, plus strong problem solving and keyboarding skills to operate laboratory software and hospital systems.

Job Summary

The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting venous and capillary blood specimens from patients in a safe and accurate manner according to established lab policies and practices. Demonstrates H3W behaviors with a focus on exceptional patient experience and quality service and outcomes. The Phlebotomist is required to comply with all OSHA and regulatory requirements including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment [PPE].

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Or, other experience and training that will support minimum on-the-job training to perform the above duties
• Knowledge of venipuncture techniques
• Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude
• Good keyboarding skills with ability to learn various laboratory application and HHC computer systems
• Ability to handle different patient population including difficult patients.
• Strong trouble shooting and problem solving skills
