Job summary

Strategic Resilience Group LLC seeks an experienced phlebotomist/medical technician to perform onsite blood collection and specimen processing at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, MA. You will help support patient care and laboratory operations for veterans in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Requirements include at least 3 years of phlebotomy experience, current BLS certification, strict infection-control practices, and the ability to handle sensitive patient

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of phlebotomy experience.
• Current AHA BLS certification.
• Knowledge of venipuncture and standard specimen-processing practices.
• Understanding of infection prevention and sharps safety.
• Strong attention to detail and professional patient interaction.
• Background screening, occupational health (TB), immunization documentation, and VA privacy/HIPAA training.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and routine blood specimen collection.
• Prepare patients and explain procedures clearly.
• Verify patient identity and ensure accurate specimen labeling.
• Transport, handle, and process specimens for testing or storage.
• Maintain specimen integrity and chain-of-custody when required.
• Follow infection-control and bloodborne-pathogen precautions; dispose of sharps properly.
• Keep collection and processing areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Communicate professionally with patients and clinical staff.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Job description

Location: Bedford, MA (Onsite) - Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, 200 Springs Road, Bedford, MA 01730

Type: Full-Time Contract | Openings: 2 | Pay: $23-$31/hr, based on experience

Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (may vary with VA needs), occasional overtime, no on-call

Position is contingent upon contract award.

About the Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and routine blood specimen collection
• Prepare patients and explain procedures clearly

• Collect, handle, process, and prepare specimens for testing, storage, or transport
• Maintain specimen integrity and chain-of-custody when required
• Follow infection-control and bloodborne-pathogen precautions; dispose of sharps and biohazards properly

• Communicate professionally with patients and clinical staff

Required Qualifications

• At least 3 years of recent phlebotomy experience
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Knowledge of venipuncture and standard specimen-processing practices
• Understanding of infection prevention, sharps safety, and bloodborne-pathogen precautions
• Strong attention to detail and professional patient interaction
• Able to complete background screening, occupational health (including TB testing), immunization documentation (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, annual flu), and VA privacy, security, and HIPAA training

Preferred Qualifications

• Hospital, outpatient lab, or medical center phlebotomy experience
• Clinical lab specimen-processing experience
• Experience with electronic laboratory information systems
• VA, military, or federal healthcare experience (a plus, not required)
