Job summary

Inver Hills Community College seeks a full-time Philosophy Instructor dedicated to teaching excellence and a student-centered learning community. The candidate will promote interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives, with courses delivered primarily online and on-campus or at off-campus sites.

Faculty engage in curriculum development, classroom instruction, assessment, mentoring, and college-wide initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Philosophy or equivalent with required credits.
• Ph.D. in Philosophy preferred.
• Experience teaching in higher education with diverse populations.
• Experience with learning communities or team teaching.
• Experience in curriculum development.
• Experience incorporating technology into curriculum delivery, including online instruction.
• Experience using student-centered, active and experiential learning strategies.
• Experience integrating cross-cultural and interdisciplinary perspectives in instruction.
• Experience assessing student outcomes campus-wide.

Responsibilities

• Participate in department and college curriculum development.
• Deliver classroom and/or online course instruction.
• Conduct classroom research and other assessment/evaluation activities.
• Mentor and advise students.
• Participate in committee assignments and college-wide initiatives.
• Participate in department accreditation and review.
• Engage in scholarly and other professional development activities.
• Course assignments may require day, evening, weekend hours and off-site locations.
