Adjunct Instructor:
Integrated Education and Training Adjunct - Adult Education

Minimum Qualifications: Must possess a Bachelor's degree. Experience within the Healthcare sector is required. Experience with instruction of reading, math or language is preferred. Experience with adult learners and ESOL students is preferred, but not required.

Daytona State College School of Adult Education is launching an exciting new offering for our Adult Education and ESOL learners. GED + Healthcare/ESOL + Healthcare is an 8-week program intended to help students learn fundamentals about the healthcare sector and determine whether a career in healthcare is a good fit for them. We are seeking an instructor with experience in the healthcare field to instruct the healthcare elements of this program. The healthcare instructor will work with GED and ESOL instructors to provide overall instruction for the program which is slated for Spring semester 2022. This is a part-time position working approximately 10 hours a week during morning and afternoon hours Monday-Thursday. This position is based on the Deltona campus.

Essential Functions/Duties:
  • Teach courses in accordance with college and departmental policies and procedures, as well as Florida Department of Education Curriculum Standards.
  • Participate in department activities and faculty meetings.
  • Prepare and submit timely reports on student performance as may be scheduled or required.
  • Organize class activities and assignments, relating them to the overall learning outcomes of the course.
  • Provide input and work with other faculty and staff to review, produce and/or select course-related materials.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of the subject area(s) in which the individual is responsible for instruction.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of effective communication and of effective instruction.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the characteristics and challenges of community college students.
  • Knowledge and understanding of principles of curriculum development.
  • Computer literate and able to navigate in a Windows environment.
