The Alliance Foundation is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit. It is the resource development and philanthropic arm of Alliance Healthcare Services. Through philanthropy, corporate partnerships, foundation grants, government funding opportunities, and community engagement, we help secure the resources that strengthen and expand behavioral healthcare across Memphis and Shelby County.

Position Summary

The Philanthropy Events Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing the development goals of The Alliance Foundation by building community and corporate relationships, coordinating fundraising and philanthropic events, and creating meaningful opportunities for individuals and organizations to engage with and invest in our mission.

Reporting directly to the Director of Development and Marketing, this position helps grow the Foundation’s pipeline of prospective donors, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners while coordinating the events, tours, communications, and engagement experiences that move relationships from awareness to involvement and philanthropic support.

Community Engagement & Philanthropy
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for approximately six annual Foundation fundraising, stewardship, and community engagement events, including the Annual Mental Health Awareness Gala, donor gatherings, corporate engagement activities, and volunteer experiences.
  • Cultivate relationships with businesses, civic organizations, schools, faith communities, neighborhood groups, and community leaders to expand awareness of Alliance and identify opportunities. Identify opportunities to move community relationships from initial engagement to deeper involvement with the Foundation, working closely with the Director of Development and Marketing and Foundation Executive Director on cultivation and follow-up.
  • Provide guidance and resources to businesses and community groups interested in hosting independent fundraising initiatives such as give-back nights, tournaments, employee campaigns, and other creative fundraising activities.
  • Represent The Alliance Foundation at community events, networking functions.
  • Coordinate all aspects of event execution, including timelines, vendors, budgets, registration, invitations, volunteer coordination, sponsorship fulfillment, day-of logistics, and post-event follow-up.
  • Work with the Director of Development and Marketing to support event sponsorship strategy, prospect outreach, sponsor stewardship, and fundraising goals.
  • Recruit, orient, and support event volunteers to create positive experiences that encourage continued involvement with the Foundation.
Digital Marketing & Communications
  • Maintain and grow the Foundation’s social media platforms, creating a consistent and engaging presence that connects the community with opportunities to give, volunteer, attend, sponsor, and partner.
  • Coordinate email marketing campaigns, digital newsletters, event communications, and website and giving portal updates.
  • Capture and share stories from Foundation events, corporate partnerships, volunteer experiences, tours, and Alliance Healthcare Services programs to demonstrate philanthropic impact.
Development Operations & Stewardship
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in the Foundation’s donor CRM, including donor and prospect interactions, sponsorships, event attendance, volunteer participation, community engagement, and follow-up activities.
  • Assist with donor and sponsor acknowledgments, stewardship communications, and other relationship-building activities.
  • Support prospect research and preparation for donor, corporate, and community partner meetings.
Preferred Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, Business, or a related field.

Experience: 2 to 3 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, community engagement, corporate relations, special events, marketing, or a related field. Experience within a nonprofit healthcare system or philanthropic foundation is a plus.

Development & Relationship Skills: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with community and corporate partners.

Technical Skills: Proficiency and independence in Canva, social media platforms and scheduling tools, email marketing platforms, Microsoft Office, and donor databases or CRM systems. Comfort with digital photography, basic video content, and graphic design is preferred.

Core Competencies: Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, excellent organization and follow-through, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and relationships simultaneously.

This position is primarily office based but requires regular activity throughout Foundation events, community meetings, and Alliance Healthcare Services locations.

The Philanthropy Events Coordinator must be able to:

  • Sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout event venues and office spaces for extended periods.
  • Work occasional evenings and weekends to support fundraising events and community activities.
  • Travel approximately 25% locally throughout Memphis and Shelby County for meetings, presentations, tours, networking opportunities, volunteer activities, and Foundation events.
