Job description

Philanthropy Comms Manager - Grow in Nonprofit Fundraising — Remote

This is a mid-to-senior individual contributor role at a mission-driven edtech nonprofit scaling rapidly on the back of a $150M AI initiative. The "Manager" title here reflects scope and seniority, not direct reports — it's a high-autonomy builder role, not a people management position.

Compensation benchmark: At $85K–$110K for a communications/events manager at a nonprofit, this is competitive for the sector but below equivalent private-sector roles (which often pay $110K–$140K+ for similar scope in tech). CodePath's location-agnostic pay policy is a notable perk — you're not penalized for living outside expensive metros.

  • AI-enabled content workflows — a highly marketable, emerging skill set
  • Donor communications and philanthropic fundraising — transferable to foundations, NGOs, and social enterprises
  • Visual storytelling and brand systems (Canva, Adobe, Figma)
  • Multi-stakeholder event production and executive-level collaboration
  • Campaign analytics and digital fundraising optimization

Green flags: Clear 30/60/90-day success metrics signal a structured onboarding. The Anthropic partnership and $150M initiative give this org serious tailwinds. PSLF eligibility is rare and genuinely valuable for those with student debt.

Watch for: The 60% events workload and fast-paced, evolving environment suggest periods of high intensity. This role may be broad for one person — asset management, event production, and digital campaigns are each full roles elsewhere. Strong project management skills are non-negotiable.

Ideal for a communications professional looking to build toward a Director of Philanthropy Communications or Head of Development Operations track in mission-driven organizations.

About the Role

Location: Remote (US)
Role Type: Full-Time
Reporting to: Director, Partnerships
Compensation: $85,000 – $110,000 annually

CodePath's Philanthropy Partnerships team raises the philanthropic capital behind the courses, career support, and career outcomes of our students. The Partner Engagement and Communications Manager turns CodePath's impact into action. You'll equip the team with compelling stories, visual communications, donor experiences, and campaigns that help funders understand the difference their partnership makes and inspire them to deepen their investment. The role owns a portfolio spanning fundraising collateral and asset management, cultivation and stewardship events, and seasonal fundraising, including end-of-year giving.

This is a highly autonomous building role that combines strategic ownership with hands‑on execution. You'll lead complex, multi‑stakeholder initiatives from concept through execution, and build the systems, templates, and AI‑enabled workflows that make recurring fundraising communications faster and more consistent. Success requires moving quickly in a fast‑paced, evolving organization, translating data and stories into compelling visual communications, and continuously improving how the team plans and executes events and campaigns.

Key Activities

External Engagement and Events (~60%)

  • Own strategy and execution for key cultivation and stewardship events, designing experiences that deepen donor engagement and advance priority fundraising opportunities, including positioning, contact lists, attendance tracking, and logistics
  • Lead event content and program development, including speaker points, donor experience, and run of show, working with Philanthropy Partnerships and cross‑functional teams to ensure engagement outcomes
  • Own donor thought leadership projects such as joint PR, announcements, op‑eds, panels, and special events; collaborate with our PR firm, internal marketing team, and the Office of the CEO to execute
  • Serve as the on‑the‑ground lead at key events, representing the Philanthropy Partnerships team in person and overseeing day‑of execution (presentation decks, leave‑beh‑igns, signage, run of show)
  • Partner with other departments, including the Office of the CEO, to lead and streamline preparation for key events (messaging alignment, attendance tracking)
  • Capture stories, photography, video, and other event content to repurpose across future cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising communications
  • Research and recommend conferences and external engagement opportunities based on their potential to expand CodePath's network, strengthen relationships, and generate new fundraising opportunities

Fundraising Communications and Asset Development (~30%)

  • Build, maintain, and frequently update a shared library of polished, reusable visual and narrative assets, including one‑pages, pitch decks, program description templates, proof‑point graphics, and boilerplate visuals
  • Identify, develop, and package student stories and impact narratives into fundraising assets that strengthen donor understanding of CodePath's impact
  • Keep the asset library current as programs, outcomes data, and impact metrics evolve, in collaboration with the Grant Writer
  • Develop scalable design templates, brand systems, and AI‑enabled asset‑creation workflows that increase the team's capacity to produce high‑quality communications
  • Ensure all assets are on‑brand and consistent with CodePath's visual identity
  • Maintain an editorial calendar and refresh cycle so fundraisers have timely, relevant assets for priority opportunities
  • Project‑manage CodePath's annual report, including partnering with designers, managing funder outreach and clearance, sourcing student stories, and writing targeted sections. This work runs well above 30% in Q1 2027 and tapers as the report is finalized.

End‑of‑Year and Online Giving (~10%)

  • Lead end‑of‑year giving and other seasonal campaigns end to end, including audience strategy, messaging, digital integration, and project management
  • Own campaign performance across landing pages, email, digital assets, and fundraising platforms, using engagement and giving data to optimize
  • Monitor website and online donations, and identify opportunities to move digital donors toward deeper engagement and larger gifts
  • Develop targeted outreach and campaign messaging that motivates giving and strengthens donors' connection to CodePath's mission
  • Analyze campaign and donor data to improve future campaigns and convert one‑time or smaller online donors into more engaged supporters

Key Success Metrics

At 30 Days

  • Understands CodePath's core narrative, program model, impact, and active funder portfolio, and how communications and events support donor engagement
  • Has assessed the existing asset library and identified key gaps and priorities
  • Knows the upcoming cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising calendar and the major initiatives needing communications or event support
  • Is familiar with the annual report process, including scope, timeline, stakeholders, and responsibilities

At 60 Days

  • Owns a shared editorial and asset‑refresh calendar so fundraisers have timely materials for priority opportunities
  • Is contributing high‑quality assets against live fundraising needs
  • Independently owns at least one cultivation or stewardship event from planning through execution, with clear engagement objectives
  • Has established reusable templates and workflows for high‑volume asset types
  • Has built effective working relationships with the Office of the CEO, Marketing, and frontline fundraisers
  • Independently manages annual report workstreams against the production timeline

At 90 Days

  • The shared asset library is current and in active use across the Philanthropy Partnerships team
  • Has led at least one cultivation or stewardship event through execution and follow‑up, with evidence it met its engagement objectives
  • Has launched, or is executing, a seasonal giving campaign with a clear audience strategy, messaging, and coordinated digital experience
  • Has implemented at least two repeatable or AI‑enabled asset workflows that reduce manual effort or increase team capacity
  • Consistently delivers communications and asset requests on agreed timelines
  • Uses engagement, event, and campaign data to inform improvements to future work

Qualifications

Required

  • Demonstrated commitment to CodePath's mission, vision, and core values
  • 6–10 years of experience in external communications and/or event planning, preferably with institutional and corporate funders or foundations
  • Hands‑on experience using AI tools to build repeatable workflows or assets that improve efficiency and quality
  • Strong visual design skills (layout, typography, color, composition), with fluency in a design tool such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or Figma
  • Ability to translate data and narrative into clear, compelling visual storytelling
  • Sharp eye for brand consistency, polish, and detail across materials and formats
  • Comfortable both setting strategic direction (event positioning, campaign approach) and turning others' source content into polished execution
  • Strong project management skills across concurrent requests and deadlines
  • Able to lead complex, multi‑stakeholder initiatives from concept through execution with a high degree of autonomy
  • Collaborates effectively with writers, fundraisers, and program teams
  • Adaptable to fast turnarounds and shifting priorities
  • Continuous‑improvement mindset: documents and streamlines recurring work to free time for higher‑value strategic and creative tasks

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Design, or Communications
  • Fluency in HubSpot (reporting, customization, outreach, analysis)
  • Experience with Asana or other project management platforms

What AI tools experience is expected for this role? CodePath requires hands‑on experience using AI tools to build repeatable workflows or assets. You'll be expected to implement AI‑enabled asset‑creation workflows that improve the team's efficiency and output quality, though specific tools are not mandated.
