Job summary

Intel Corporation in Hillsboro, Oregon is seeking a Software Research Intern (PhD) to join the TCAD Software Development team. You will contribute to advanced computational software supporting semiconductor technology, focusing on computational geometry, visualization, CAD tooling, and high-performance computing.

You will design, develop, and optimize software solutions, participate in architecture and prototyping, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be currently pursuing a PhD in a technical field with a strong software focus.
• Minimum 3 months of educational, research, or internship experience with programming in Python and/or C++.
• Experience in computational geometry, scientific visualization, CAD tool development, or optimization algorithms is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize software solutions for engineering and research applications.
• Participate in architecture design, prototyping, testing, and performance optimization.
• Develop and enhance computational geometry algorithms and scientific software tools.
• Create and improve 2D and 3D visualization capabilities using modern graphics technologies.
• Develop numerical methods and simulation capabilities (e.g., FEM, Level Set).
• Collaborate with software engineers, researchers, and domain experts to deliver scalable solutions.
• Perform software development, debugging, and performance analysis in Linux environments.
• Document technical solutions and present findings to stakeholders.
