Job summary

NVIDIA Research seeks a world-class new college grad PhD researcher to drive groundbreaking work at the intersection of AI HW/SW Co-Design, AI Hardware Accelerator Architecture, IC Design Methodology, and VLSI Design. The role spans ML fundamentals, quantization, digital VLSI circuits, and generative AI for hardware design.

You will collaborate with AI researchers and hardware teams to develop testchips, publish results, and present at conferences.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • VLSI Implementation Skills: Experience in hardware design with proficiency with modern EDA tool flows.
  • Programming & Systems Skills: Proficiency in at least two of Python, PyTorch, C++, SystemVerilog, or CUDA.
  • Publications in top circuit, architecture, and/or AI/ML venues.
  • Domain & Technical Expertise: PhD research experience in VLSI, computer architecture, and/or numerical algorithms for AI model HW/SW co-design.
  • Excellent self-motivation, creativity, collaboration skills, and ability to work in a research team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain complex concepts.

Responsibilities

  • AI Accelerator Hardware: Contribute to novel research advancing AI accelerator design.
  • VLSI: Research ASIC and VLSI design techniques and apply ML/generative AI to design tool flows.
  • AI HW/SW Co-Design: Develop numerical methods for quantization, sparsity, or tensor decomposition in digital VLSI contexts.
  • Collaborate on developing research prototype testchips.
  • Collaborate with AI researchers and hardware teams in research and product groups.
  • Publish and present original research at conferences and events.
