Job summary

TikTok is offering a Research Scientist Intern role (TikTok-Neural Graphics and World Models) for a 12-week Summer 2027 program in San Jose. You will own a scoped research project, reproduce strong baselines, and develop prototypes that connect models to data, runtime, and engine pipelines.

Ideal candidates are PhD students with hands-on ML experience (PyTorch/JAX), strong research foundations, and interest in graphics, world models, and interactive tools.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a PhD in a relevant technical field with strong research potential.
• Hands-on experience building, training, and evaluating models with ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, JAX).
• Familiarity with modern generative architectures and training methods is a plus.
• Engineering fluency in model development workflows and evaluating results.

Responsibilities

• Study relevant research, reproduce baselines, and propose practical extensions.
• Develop and evaluate models, data methods, or evaluation workflows in a scoped area.
• Build training, inference, data, or evaluation components using ML frameworks.
• Run controlled experiments, analyze model behavior, and clearly communicate findings.
