Job summary

TikTok is seeking a Research Scientist/Engineer to advance an AI-native neural graphics engine for interactive content. You will lead research directions, develop models, and work with engineering teams to deliver usable engine capabilities for games and platforms.

Candidates should have ML/graphics depth, hands-on experience with PyTorch/JAX, and a track record in AI-for-graphics research. This is a hands-on, on-site role based in San Jose.

Qualifications

• PhD/MS or equivalent research experience in ML/graphics/robotics or related field.
• 5+ years of research or industry experience in neural graphics or related domain.
• Deep knowledge of ML, model architectures, data strategies, or scaling; hands-on model training.
• Fluent with ML frameworks (PyTorch/JAX) and distributed training.
• Expertise in AI-for-graphics areas: 3D modeling, rendering, or world models.
• Ability to design controlled experiments and connect data to decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead research directions in neural graphics, world models, 3D modeling, animation, simulation, or rendering.
• Develop, train, adapt, and evaluate AI models for interactive graphics and world generation.
• Define data/evaluation strategies linking model behavior to quality and performance.
• Build research prototypes and collaborate with engineers to deploy in real-time engines.
• Analyze results, identify risks, and outline next steps for model and system development.
• Produce reproducible artifacts and mentor team members.
