Job summary

Boeing’s Graduate Researcher Program in Engineering & Technology Innovation seeks a PhD-level intern to support the Composite Materials & Structures team in St. Louis, MO.

The role focuses on advanced composites, processing techniques, and manufacturing methodologies for next-generation aerospace structures. The intern will work 10–12 weeks in Summer 2027, collaborating with cross-functional teams, documenting results and presenting findings, with relocation offered if eligible and a strong path

Qualifications

• Completed the first year of PhD studies by July 2027.
• Full-time availability for 10–12 weeks in Summer 2027.
• Pursuing a PhD in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related fields with focus on composites.
• Familiarity with composite materials, processing, and testing; data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Support development and documentation of engineering requirements for composites.
• Assist in experimental research: characterization, processing, testing of advanced composites.
• Evaluate and help integrate manufacturing technologies including automation and additive manufacturing.
• Contribute to failure analysis and corrective action for composites.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, design, supply chain, and suppliers to optimize materials.
• Assist supplier qualification, including testing and audits of material properties.
• Document data, prepare technical reports, and assist with presentations.
