Job summary

Google Research offers a full-time, 12-14 week paid internship for PhD students in Computer Science or related fields, with multiple US locations including Chicago. Applications open and close Feb 26, 2027, and rolling reviews.

Interns work with engineers to design experiments, prototype implementations, and build scalable architectures across AI, ML, NLP, and data science. You’ll contribute to projects used in Google products and publish work when possible.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a PhD degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience in one area of CS such as NLP, ML, CV, or data science.
• Familiar with general purpose programming languages (Python, Java, JavaScript, C/C++, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Learn and execute a research agenda with guidance from engineers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance research projects.
