Job summary

ISO New England is seeking a PhD internship focused on AI-assisted modeling of energy storage. You’ll apply machine learning and data analysis to improve how storage is modeled in power system studies, supporting a more reliable, flexible, and innovative electric grid.

Within the Advanced Technology Solutions department, you’ll tackle a real-world challenge at the intersection of power systems and AI, gaining mentorship and contributing to research with practical impact on grid planning.

Qualifications

• Background in power systems, operations research, ML, electrical engineering, or related field.
• Experience with Python and packages such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• Ability to work with large datasets and translate analysis into clear technical findings.
• Curiosity, problem-solving skills, and interest in using AI to solve real-world energy challenges.
