Job summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) seeks PhD intern candidates in computer science, applied mathematics, or statistics for modeling and simulation work at the interface of mechanistic and statistical approaches.

Ideal applicants will implement algorithms from mathematical specifications, benchmark software, and collaborate with project teams to refine code per sponsor requirements. Strong Python or Julia skills are expected.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be currently enrolled/matriculated in a PhD program in computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, or a related field at an accredited college.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop algorithmic solutions for directed modeling applications, including implementation, benchmarking, and analysis of software performance.
• Review, refine, and improve code in line with project team requirements and sponsor expectations.
• Collaborate with project teams to produce publishable results and robust software.
