We are seeking PhD candidates and experienced PhDs to work closely with senior staff on commercial litigation consulting matters. Responsibilities include economic research, empirical analysis, and external communications preparation. We are looking for applicants with strong written and oral communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and the capacity to analyze complex data. The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team is essential.

An Economist within our Disputes, Claims & Investigations group can expect assignments across a variety of industries. These assignments typically involve litigation or dispute matters that require advanced empirical modeling to support liability or damages theories, most frequently related to antitrust matters.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform industry, company, technical, or economic research
• Review, organize, and analyze project data and documents (e.g., financial, sales, healthcare data)
• Develop and review economic damage models in various contexts
• Prepare and present schedules and graphical exhibits summarizing results of analytics
• Perform quality control procedures for client deliverables
• Prepare written reports and exhibits
• Attend client meetings and calls
• Assist in business development activities, such as proposals and professional articles

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficiency with advanced database management and analytical tools such as SAS, STATA, R, Python, etc.
• Expertise in Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
• Strong attention to detail
• A strong work ethic, innovative thinking, and a positive attitude
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to develop and critique alternative arguments and opinions

Education and/or Training

• PhD, preferably in Economics or Agricultural Economics
• 0-2 years of post-graduate experience

• Experience or strong interest in litigation and/or dispute consulting
• Fields of study: Applied Microeconomics, Industrial Organization, Microeconomic Theory, Game Theory, Labor, Healthcare, Econometrics, Public Policy, Agricultural Economics
