Job summary

AbbVie Inc. is seeking a 2027 Drug Substance Engineering Intern (PhD) in the United States to advance understanding of powder behavior in micronization processes. The role focuses on evaluating jet/pin mill feed mechanisms, collecting data, and building computational models under supervision.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a PhD program in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.
• Must be enrolled for at least one semester following the internship.
• Experience with comminution or powder characterization is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct experimental studies to understand and characterize powder properties.
• Evaluate micronization techniques (jet mill, pin mill) with various feed mechanisms.
• Analyze data to identify signatures for process performance.
• Develop and verify computational models.
• Summarize findings and present to department and cross-functional teams.
