AbbVie Inc. is offering a Drug Substance Engineering Internship aimed at understanding how powder properties affect feeding and micronization performance. You will work with mentors to study jet/pin milling, build data-driven insights, and develop computational models, all within AbbVie's Drug Substance Engineering group.
The role emphasizes experimental characterization, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to advance process understanding in pharmaceutical development.
AbbVie's mission is to discover and deliver innovative medicines and solutions that solve serious health issues today and address the medical challenges of tomorrow. We strive to have a remarkable impact on people's lives across several key therapeutic areas including immunology, oncology and neuroscience - and products and services in our Allergan Aesthetics portfolio. Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie Interns.
Micronization of drug substance is a critical process in API manufacturing for ensuring downstream critical quality attributes. Micronization processes such as pin milling and jet milling leverage feed rate control to optimize the process performance, and while feed rate is well understood for many powder systems there is a gap in understanding the feed rate control of poorly flowing materials in micronization techniques.
The Drug Substance Engineering Intern within Product Development, Science, and Technology (PDS&T) will help establish a systematic approach to understand how the physical properties of powder systems impact their feeding performance in micronization processes.
