Job summary

Intuit, Inc. invites AI research interns to join a high‑caliber team working on foundational AI problems across fintech offerings. You will design experiments, build novel models, and publish findings that influence customer experiences and product decisions.

The Emerging Talent Program provides mentorship, leadership exposure, and cross‑functional collaboration, with dedicated learning opportunities and social events throughout the 12‑week internship.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a PhD program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, with an expected graduation date after the internship ends
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis for the duration of the internship
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment at an Intuit office location determined by your team and role (Relocation stipend will be provided)
• Experience in one area of AI (e.g., NLP, large language models, RL, uncertainty quantification, optimization)
• Established track record of publication, ideally with first‑author papers at top‑tier AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, AAAI, EMNLP, AISTATS, KDD)
• Experience developing and debugging in Python with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar frameworks
• Experience disseminating scientific work in English through paper submissions and conference presentations.

Responsibilities

• Design and run experiments to explore open research questions in your area of focus (e.g., generative AI, reinforcement learning, neuro‑symbolic AI).
• Develop and prototype novel models, algorithms, or methods, and rigorously evaluate them against relevant baselines.
• Read, synthesize, and build on current AI research literature to inform your approach and identify promising directions.
• Partner with research scientists, data scientists, and machine learning engineers to connect research findings to real product and customer impact.
• Document your methodology, findings, and code clearly, and present your work to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Contribute to publication‑quality write‑ups of your research where applicable.
