Job summary

StepStone Group is offering a summer internship in the AI Initiatives team focused on applying AI/ML to investment research. Interns will design LLM-powered pipelines, structured data extraction, and quantitative modeling on large financial datasets, contributing to portfolio analysis and risk assessment.

You will work with Python, SQL, and data engineering tools, collaborating across teams and presenting findings to investment stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Ph.D. in a quantitative field.
• Strong Python coding and data pipeline experience.
• Experience with LLMs, NLP, or related AI/ML coursework preferred.
• Ability to work in-person in La Jolla for 2027 summer interns and remotely part-time for 2028 Fall.

Responsibilities

• Design and iterate on LLM-powered pipelines for document processing and data extraction.
• Build and optimize end-to-end data pipelines using Python and SQL.
• Apply quantitative modeling to surface investment insights from large datasets.
• Document findings and communicate results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
