The Davey Tree Expert Company in San Ramon, CA is seeking a Plant Healthcare Technician to perform fertilization and pest management on trees, shrubs and lawns using spray and injection tools. Salary is $28.00-$35.00 per hour DOE, with opportunities for advancement in a large employee-owned company.

Your office is outdoors, you will monitor progress, maintain equipment and communicate with customers and supervisors.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors and physical outdoor work.
• Background in horticulture or landscaping preferred.
• Turf, weed, tree and shrub ID knowledge preferred.
• Ability to complete Davey landscape development books on hire.
• Ability to complete Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving courses on hire.
• Valid driver’s license—required.
• State-specific pesticide licenses/certificates preferred if required by law.

Responsibilities

• Fertilize and manage pests on trees, shrubs and lawns using spray and injection tools.
• Identify insects, weeds, fungus and pest-prone areas and diagnose issues.
• Educate clients about diagnoses and prescribed pest control and fertilization services.
• Apply fertilization and integrated pest management as prescribed.
• Monitor methods post-application and report progress to customers and supervisors.
• Drive and operate truck and sprayer equipment, maintaining safety.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Cultivate your career and fertilize your future!
• Properly identify and diagnose insects, weeds, fungus conditions, and pest prone areas.
• Communicate with and educate the client regarding the diagnosis and the prescribed pest control, and fertilization service with customers.
• Perform the prescribed fertilization and integrated pest management on tree and shrubs using spray and injection tools.
• Continuously monitor the pest control and fertilizing methods after application and communicate progress to customers and supervisors.
• Drive, use, maintain and properly operate truck and sprayer equipment.

Qualifications
