Description

B&W Chanute (BWC) is seeking to hire a highly motivated and career-minded nondestructive testing professional to fill immediate openings within our Chanute location. BWC is looking for an experienced Phased Array technician to establish a phased array (PAUT) program at our manufacturing facility. The candidate will help develop our PAUT program, perform PAUT examinations, and train peers to PAUT proficiency.

The Level II Phased Array Technician will be responsible for the following actions/tasks:

  1. Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment.
  2. Able to perform Ultrasonic inspection of pressure members in accordance with current editions of ASME standards such as Section I, Section V, Section VIII, B31.1, B31.3.
  3. Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection.
  4. Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
  5. Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.
  6. Organize and report test results.
  7. Perform specialized inspections.
  8. Supervise and instruct other technicians when necessary.
  9. Able to handle other methods of inspection such as MT & PT in either a laboratory or field setting.
  10. Perform Level II UT Shear wave responsibilities.
  11. Classification of flaws, sizing of flaws and the ability to plot and locate flaws.
  12. Any other assignment necessary to meet responsibilities set forth by the Company.

Qualifications

Required Qualification & Experience

  1. High school diploma or G.E.D.
  2. Current certifications in UT and PAUT methods.
  3. Familiar with applicable welding codes, i.e. ASME.
  4. Preferred to hold additional NDE certifications in MT, PT, and RT.
  5. Knowledgeable with OSHA’s General and Construction safety industries.
  6. Able to pass Background check and Company drug/alcohol testing, Fit for Duty testing, Ergonomic testing, and a motor vehicle check.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. SNT-TC-1A/ACCP Level II MT, PT, UT Certifications, or Documented field hours and classroom education that meets or exceeds SNT-TC-1A certification requirements for methods of MT, PT, UT & RT.
  2. Previously certified in Time-of-Flight Diffraction.
  3. Proficient with ES Beam Tool.
  4. Proficient with Raster, manual, semi-automated and automated PA scanning techniques.
