What You'll Do

ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for an experienced Phased Array Level II Technician / Specialty Technician III to join our Huntsville team and advance in a dynamic work environment. You'll work on a variety of complex projects performing field observations and inspections, and may also work with steel performing destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT) or non-destructive examination (NDE).

Responsibilities

  • Field Activities: Perform observations, testing, inspections, and sampling of construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel placement; execute tasks based on project requirements under supervision; inspections may also be conducted in fabrication facilities or on mechanical piping systems and pressure vessels.
  • Testing Procedures: Conduct routine observations of structural and reinforcing steel, including welded or bolted connections, using industry-standard methodologies and testing equipment; testing may include ground penetrating radar (GPR), material verification, and corrosion surveys.
  • Data Collection: Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspections; maintain organization of field equipment; notify supervisor of broken or missing equipment.
  • Communication: Maintain daily communication with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers; attend project meetings; inform team of test results and provide technical advice.
  • Training and Development: Receive training in ECS methodology; document findings accurately; mentor other technicians.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • ASNT NDT Level II certification(s) and at least 2 additional advanced certifications from authorities such as NRC, NICET, WACEL, ACI, IFC, AWS, ASTM.
  • Ability to obtain maximal certifications in the above categories.
  • Ability to carry 40–70 lbs multiple times daily; occasionally lift 85 lbs to waist height.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Reliable transportation; mileage reimbursed.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing principles and standards.
  • Understanding of heavy construction safety practices.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Effective collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic devices.
  • Ability to interpret engineering and construction plans.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office.
  • If focused on NDE testing, ability to calibrate NDE equipment.
