This position is eligible for a generous Sign-On Bonus! UPMC is excited to offer up to a $5,000 Sign-on Bonus to eligible candidates (with a 2-year work commitment)!

Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare cytotoxic and hazardous drugs using aseptic techniques in Sterile Product area.
  2. Retrieve medications that have been discontinued and return (and credit if necessary) them to the appropriate pharmacy area.
  3. Participate in the distribution of medication including medication cassettes, emergency medication carts, and the delivery of controlled substances per department policy and state and federal requirements.
  4. Ensure that all medications in all areas have been safely and securely stored according to Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  5. Assist in the preparation of the proper oral and injectable medications (including intravenous admixtures and TPN for the correct patient for administration at the appropriate time). Use proper technique in the preparation of medications.
  6. Assist in the procurement, accountability, storage, preparation, and distribution of investigational and study drugs.
  7. Assist in filling medication orders through correct labeling, counting, and stocking practices.
  8. Provide and receive information (via telephone, person-to-person, or written) to hospital personnel, patients, and visitors. Refer all drug information questions to Staff Pharmacists.
  9. Audit and maintain accurate records for controlled substances. Assure that all such drugs are stored and dispensed in compliance with Federal, State, and Department Regulations.
  10. Demonstrate a high level of accuracy and skill in maintaining controlled substance records and the distribution process for controlled substances.

Schedule: Rotating days, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to work all shifts including but not limited to: 6AM-2PM, 7AM-3PM, 2PM-10PM, 3PM-11PM, and 11PM-7AM.
