Job summary

UPMC Chartwell in Pennsylvania is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician Trainee to assist with organizing, stocking, and distributing medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered ($3,000 upfront and $2,000 after promotion). The role operates on three rotating shifts (8:00–4:30, 6:30–3:00, 12:30–9:00) with every third weekend. UPMC provides comprehensive benefits and opportunities for career growth.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required.
• For PA- Register as a Pharmacy Trainee with the State Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Provide and receive information to hospital personnel, patients and visitors; refer drug information questions to Staff Pharmacists.
• Finalize sales using cash register and follow cash handling policies.
• Distribute medication including medication cassettes, emergency medication carts and the delivery of controlled substances per department policy and state and federal requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of the proper oral medications for the correct patient for administration at the appropriate time.
• Develop and maintain a clean, organized, and adequately stocked work environment.
• Assist in filling medication orders through correct labeling, counting and stocking practices.
• Ensure that all medications in all areas have been safely and securely stored according to regulations.
• Maintain all pertinent documentation such as eye wash logs, refrigerator logs, perpetual inventory logs.
• Retrieve medications that have been discontinued and return them to the appropriate pharmacy area.
• Comply with Federal and State laws such as HIPAA, regulations such as OSHA, and PBM contracting requirements such as FWA and CMS.
• Practice appropriate hand hygiene both in the pharmacy and in the units.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships during medication distribution process.
• Use computer systems to process and maintain all patient information and records.

UPMC Chartwell is looking for a full time Pharmacy Technician Trainee to join their dedicated team!

The Pharmacy Technician, Trainee provides pharmaceutical care to patients within the UPMC Health System by primarily assisting with the organization, stocking, and distribution of medications while under the direct supervisor of a licensed pharmacist. The Pharmacy Technician Trainee services are provided in compliance with Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.

Qualified candidates are eligible for a 5,000 sign on bonus. $3,000 paid up front in the first 90 days, and $2,000 after successful promotion to a Pharmacy Technician.

This role will work 3 rotating shifts - 8am to 4:30pm, 6:30am to 3pm and 12:30pm to 9pm. Every 3rd weekend shift.

• General: Maintain all pertinent documentation as required. This includes eye wash logs, refrigerator logs, perpetual inventory logs etc.
• Distribution: Retrieve medications that have been discontinued and return (and credits if necessary) them to the appropriate pharmacy area
• General: comply with Federal and State laws such as HIPAA, regulations such as OSHA, and PBM contracting requirements such as FWA and CMS.
