Job summary

Wegmans is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to join our fast-paced pharmacy team. You will provide excellent customer service, assist customers with prescriptions, and help ensure accurate input of prescription information.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting insurance claims, maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA, and following regulatory standards. This role may require state certification support and provides opportunities for career growth within Wegmans.

What You'll Do

• Provide incredible customer service by demonstrating patience, empathy and care in a fast-paced environment
• Perform accurate dosage calculations and conversions using basic math skills while adhering to all regulatory standards and company policies to ensure safe and compliant medication preparation and dispensing
• Troubleshoot the rejected insurance claims and address issues to support customers' needs
• Accurately and efficiently input prescription information
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and company policies
• Properly handle medications and follow department policies and procedures

Requirements

• Proficient computer and data entry skills
• Basic math skills, including unit conversions, to accurately perform dosage calculations, day supply and ensure patient safety
• Problem solving skills

Some states require national technician certification and/or state registration to work as a pharmacy technician. You may be hired prior to obtaining these qualifications, and Wegmans will support you throughout the process. Depending on location, certified pharmacy technicians may earn additional compensation.

Certified Pharmacy Technician PTCB - PTCB: Pharmacy Technician Certification Board; Experience ordering products and controlling inventory; Pharmacy Technician or Support Center Representative experience; Work Environment: The physical demands of this work are classified as light. Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive forceful pinching and grasping, bending, and lifting, frequent use of a computer and telephone, along with continuous interaction with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced environment. The average weight range of items lifted is 1 – 10 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 35 pounds rarely. Upper extremity repetition is moderate and trunk movement involves moderately low twisting, bending, and pivoting. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction).The work environment is indoors.Basic tools and equipment used include cash register, computer, telephone, pill counter, and pharmacy and office supplies.
