White Oak Medical Center's Pharmacy, part of Adventist HealthCare, in Silver Spring, MD, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to support drug distribution, compounding, and medication delivery within a faith-based health system.

The role requires MD licensure as a Pharmacy Technician, PTCB or NHA certification, and at least 2 years of aseptic experience per USP 797/800, with experience in Cerner and automated dispensing systems preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED/equivalent required.
  • Maryland Board of Pharmacy licensure required.
  • PTCB or NHA Certified Pharmacy Technician required.
  • At least 2 years in a pharmacy with aseptic technique per USP 797/800; USP 795 knowledge.
  • ASHP- or PTCB-recognized training program preferred.
  • Experience with Cerner, Pyxis, Pharmogistics, Carousels preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform drug distribution, medication preparation, compounding, dose calculation, and quality control per USP standards.
  • Maintain inventory and perform cycle counts; inspect patient care units with documentation.
  • Prepare and deliver medication to patient care units; restock automated dispensing units.
  • Prepare prepackaged oral solid and liquid medications for dispensing.
  • Perform Medication History assessments.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

White Oak Medical Center's Pharmacy is hiring a Pharmacy Tech II in Silver Spring, MD. We're seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.

As a Pharmacy Technician II you will:
  • Perform drug distribution, medication preparation, compounding, dose calculation, and quality Performs sterile compounding according to USP 797 and 800 including electronic documentation
  • Maintains accurate inventory of medications and supplies by performing inventory management cycle counts; performs patient care unit inspections with electronic documentation
  • Prepares and delivers medication to patient care units; restocks automated dispensing units
  • Assesses need for and prepares prepackaged oral solid, and liquid medications for dispensing
  • Performs Medication History assessments
  • Additional duties as assigned
Qualified candidates will possess:
  • High school diploma or GED/equivalent required.
  • Licensure as Pharmacy Technician by the Maryland Board of Pharmacy required.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required.
  • At least 2 years work experience in a pharmacy specifically using aseptic technique compliant with USP 797 and 800; working knowledge of USP 795 required.
  • Graduation from an ASHP accredited or PTCB recognized Pharmacy Technician Training Program preferred.
  • Previous experience with Cerner, Pyxis, Pharmogistics, Carousels preferred
Work Schedule:
  • Employment Type: Part-time
  • Hours per Week: 20 hrs./week
  • Typical Daily Schedule: 8 hour shifts - Two times a week- then Three times next week 6:00am- 2:30p, 7:30am-4:30pm, 8:00am-4:30pm, 10:30am-7:00pm, 130pm-10:00pm
  • Shift Type: Rotating Day, Evening, Nights and Weekends.
  • Weekend Requirements: Required every other weekend rotation
  • Holiday Requirements: Required Follow company holiday calendar
  • Shift Differential Eligible: Yes
  • Pay Range: $21.02 - $28.03 If the salary range is listed as $0 or if the position is Per Diem (with a fixed rate), salary discussions will take place during the screening process.
  • Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), this position is classified as: United States of America (Non-Exempt)
