Job summary

White Oak Medical Center's Pharmacy is hiring a Pharmacy Tech II in Silver Spring, MD. The role seeks an experienced technician to support drug distribution, sterile compounding, and medication delivery in a faith-based health system.

Qualified candidates will have MD licensure, PTCB/NHA certification, and at least 2 years in aseptic technique per USP 797/800. Cerner, Pyxis, Pharmogistics, and Carousels experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED/equivalent required.
  • Licensure as Pharmacy Technician by the Maryland Board of Pharmacy required.
  • PTCB or NHA Certified Pharmacy Technician required.
  • At least 2 years in a pharmacy using aseptic technique compliant with USP 797/800; working knowledge of USP 795.
  • ASHP-accredited or PTCB-recognized training preferred.
  • Experience with Cerner, Pyxis, Pharmogistics, Carousels preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform drug distribution, medication preparation, compounding, dose calculation and quality checks.
  • Performs sterile compounding per USP 797/800 including electronic documentation.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and conduct cycle counts; inspect patient care units with electronic documentation.
  • Prepare and deliver medications to patient care units; restock automated dispensing units.
  • Assess need for prepackaged oral solids and liquids for dispensing.
  • Perform Medication History assessments.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

White Oak Medical Center's Pharmacy is hiring a Pharmacy Tech II in Silver Spring, MD. We're seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.

As a Pharmacy Technician II you will:
  • Perform drug distribution, medication preparation, compounding, dose calculation, and quality
  • Performs sterile compounding according to USP 797 and 800 including electronic documentation
  • Maintains accurate inventory of medications and supplies by performing inventory management cycle counts; performs patient care unit inspections with electronic documentation
  • Prepares and delivers medication to patient care units; restocks automated dispensing units
  • Assesses need for and prepares prepackaged oral solid, and liquid medications for dispensing
  • Performs Medication History assessments
  • Additional duties as assigned
Qualified candidates will possess:
  • High school diploma or GED/equivalent required.

  • Graduation from an ASHP accredited or PTCB recognized Pharmacy Technician Training Program preferred.
  • Previous experience with Cerner, Pyxis, Pharmogistics, Carousels preferred
Work Schedule:
  • Employment Type: Part-time
  • Hours per Week: 20 hrs./week
  • Typical Daily Schedule: 8 hour shifts - Two times a week, then Three times next week 6:00am-2:30pm, 7:30am-4:30pm, 8:00am-4:30pm, 10:30am-7:00pm, 1:30pm-10:00pm
  • Shift Type: Rotating Day, Evening, Nights and Weekends.
  • Weekend Requirements: Required every other weekend rotation
  • Holiday Requirements: Required Follow company holiday calendar
  • Shift Differential Eligible: Yes
Pay Range:

$21.02 - $28.03
