Sanford Specialty Pharmacy seeks a team member with excellent customer service skills, high attention to detail, adaptability to department needs, multitasking ability across systems, and effective collaboration with pharmacy and clinic staff.

Pharmacy Hours & Shift Information:

  • Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Closed Nights, Weekends, and 6 major Holidays
  • Shifts vary between call center and central operations; primary patient interactions via phone
  • Location: Fargo, ND

In North Dakota, start by obtaining a Tech-in-Training License and enrolling in Sanford Health’s Pharmacy Technician University (PTU). This program complies with state laws and regulations, providing standardized education to support pharmacists, enhance patient safety, reduce errors, and improve pharmacy efficiency. Sanford covers the program cost, and participants have 12 months to complete PTU and apply for their license.

Job Description

Specialty Pharmacy Technicians contribute to the pharmacy’s success and efficiency. Responsibilities include:

  • Initial prescription review and intake
  • Refill reminder calls to active patients
  • Answering and routing incoming calls
  • Filling prescriptions under pharmacist supervision
  • Preparing and shipping medications

In retail/community settings, duties include assisting pharmacists with compounding, dispensing, maintaining storage/security, equipment upkeep, inventory management, billing, quality assurance, and ensuring a safe environment. Proficiency in multiple computer programs is required.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required. In Minnesota, applicants must be 18+, have active pharmacy technician registration, and complete required training within 12 months of registration.
