Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking an inpatient Pharmacy Technician to maintain and improve ADM MedStation systems within the Medical Center, under pharmacist supervision. The technician will handle setup, system monitoring, inventory management, and policy adherence in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Required: high school diploma, 2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience, ASHP/Pharmacy Tech certifications, and Pyxis/MedStation familiarity or willingness to obtain them within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate setup, installation, and expansion of ADM MedStation systems.
• Communicate ADM project status to pharmacy and nursing staff.
• Review nursing activity reports and refer discrepancies to pharmacist or nurse manager.
• Participate in ADM policy and procedure development and review.
• Assist in resolving ADM MedStation issues as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Manage ADM system inventory and perpetual inventory levels.
• Review Batch reports and adjust inventory as needed.
• Facilitate training for pharmacy staff on ADM systems.
• Adapt communication to patient populations and privacy requirements.

This job is a member of the inpatient pharmacy team and work directly with the department pharmacists to maintain and improve pharmacy services for the assigned areas. Responsible for the maintenance of the Automatic Dispensing Machine (ADM) system for adult and pediatric inpatient areas at the Medical Center under the supervision of pharmacist. Job Duties

• Coordinate the setup, installation, and expansion of Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) MedStation systems.
• Communicate the status of Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) product projects/activities/issues to pharmacy and nursing staffs.
• Review reports of nursing activities and discrepancies and refer to pharmacist or nurse manager according to policy and procedure.
• Participate in policy and procedure development and review of Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) MedStation system.
• Assist in resolving Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) MedStation system issues as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
• Manage inventory of Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) MedStation systems and perpetual inventory system
• Review inventory levels in perpetual inventory system.
• Review and adjust inventory max and min levels.
• Review all Batch reports (e.g., Refill, Stock-out, All Station Events, Charges and Credits, Discrepancies, Overrides).
• Facilitate and monitor pharmacy staff training (new and current staff).
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Other related duties as required.
