Job summary

Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Long Island, NY, is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician to support the pharmacy and nursing units. Duties include reading prescriptions, preparing medication orders, and delivering meds to Nursing Stations according to the rounds schedule.

The role requires a High School Diploma with at least 2 years SNF/DSS or related experience and computer literacy; CPhT is preferred.

Qualifications

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred.
High School Diploma - Minimum 2 years SNF, DSS or related experience.
Candidate must be computer literate.

Responsibilities

Assist the pharmacist in a variety of functions within the pharmacy and also on the nursing units and clinic areas.
All such functions will be under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.
Read prescriptions and prepare all medication orders according to policy.
Must be familiar with brand and generic drug names and strengths.
Acts as a messenger for picking up physician orders and for delivering medications to all Nursing Stations in a timely manner according to the pharmacy rounds schedule.
Delivers appropriate stock medications to Nursing Stations and ensure all medications in the Medication Room are in date, stored appropriately and labeled properly.
Check pharmacy inventory and remove all expired medications from dispensing areas. Coordinate return of expired medications and discontinued patient medications to reverse company distribution for credit or proper destruction according to policy.
