Job summary

Logan Health Chester is seeking a PRN Pharmacy Technician in Chester, MT to support medication distribution for inpatient and outpatient units and to operate automated dispensing systems and barcode scanning.

Eligible applicants must hold an active Montana pharmacy technician license, demonstrate excellent communication, typing, and accuracy, and work well both independently and as part of a team under professional supervision. Flexible scheduling across weekdays and weekends is available.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Position

PRN Pharmacy Technician – Chester, MT (Logan Health)

Key Benefits

• Hourly pay starts at $20.00, with additional 12% PRN differential

Qualifications

• Active Pharmacy Technician license with the Montana Board of Pharmacy (CPhT in good standing)
• Technician training program preferred
• Prior health care experience preferred
• RQI First Responder certification required
• Proficient typing skills
• Knowledge of medical terminology, calculations, medication brand and generic names
• Experience with pharmacy systems and electronic health records preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage confidential situations with professionalism
• Excellent organizational and critical‑thinking skills, self‑starter, able to work independently and as part of a team

Job Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist with medication distribution, including dispensing to inpatient and outpatient units
• Operate automated dispensing system and barcode scanning, and fill patient drawers
• Deliver and retrieve medications, ensuring accurate billing (debiting/crediting patient accounts)
• Maintain pharmacy inventory – ordering, receiving, shelving, documenting shortages, disposing expired items
• Perform routine cleaning and disposal duties, maintaining a neat environment
• Maintain knowledge of pharmacy computer systems and current pharmacy laws, pursue continuing education to keep licensure current
• Complete rounds according to policy alongside other pharmacy personnel
• Answer telephone calls, respond to inquiries, and route appropriately
• Assist in any other duties as reasonably assigned by department leadership, within scope of practice

Shift & Scheduling

Variable schedule – PRN, scheduled as needed across weekdays, weekends, and evenings up to 7:00pm. Logan Health operates 24h/day, 7d/week.
