Job summary

Vitruvian Health, the region's leading hospital system, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists with medication distribution, receive supplies, stock AMDCs, and prepare and label medications for patients.

Responsibilities include compounding non-sterile products per USP <795>, and handling hazardous drugs per USP <800>, with computer proficiency essential for dispensing processes. Training and HIPAA compliance emphasized.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School graduate or equivalent or enrolled in high school.
  • Licensure: Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy or able to obtain license prior to start date.
  • Experience: Prior pharmacy technician experience preferred.
  • Skills: Basic math calculations and computer skills. Maintaining effective working relationships with fellow associates. Clear and effective communication. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Self-motivated, diligent, attention to detail.

  • Assists the pharmacists with support activities and processes related to medication distribution within the hospital.
  • Receives medication and other supplies for storage.
  • Stocks Automated Medication Dispensing Cabinets (AMDCs) or areas where medications are stored.
  • Prepares, packages, and labels medications to be dispensed to patients.
  • Compounds non-sterile products according to USP <795> standards.
  • Shows compliance with receiving and handling of hazardous drugs according to USP <800> standards.
  • Demonstrates computer proficiency with software related to dispensing of medications.
  • Additional duties such as compounding of sterile products per USP <797> guidelines, compounding hazardous sterile products per USP <800> guidelines, and pharmacy technician duties in the operating room satellite pharmacy may be expected at the discretion of the Pharmacy Operations Manager.
