Job summary

100 LCMC Health in New Orleans is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to assist in medication preparation, packaging and distribution across patient care areas. The role includes unit dose preparation, repackaging and IV work under supervision.

• Experience in medication preparation and delivery within a pharmacy setting.
• Familiarity with quality assurance processes and regulatory standards (TJC, LBOP).

Responsibilities

• Medication Preparation: procure, prepare, package, distribute and dispose of medications and supplies.
• Medication Delivery: verify products and facilitate distribution to maintain integrity.
• Prioritization and Triaging: respond to customer needs and triage requests; manage time effectively.
• Quality Assurance: conduct audits and inspections; monitor temperature logs and cleanliness.
• Training/Education/Professional: engage in ongoing professional development and required trainings.

Job description

GENERAL DUTIES

• Medication Preparation: Under direct supervision, procures, receives, prepares, packages, distributes and disposes of medications and pharmaceutical supplies to assist the department in providing quality pharmaceutical care for all patients. Prepares unit dose, compound oral and intravenous medications. Repackage medications in unit dosage forms. Restock medications and other supplies in patient care areas or clinics. Follows appropriate ordering procedures.
• Medication Delivery: Ensures product verification by the appropriate pharmacy professional and facilitates the distribution of medications to maintain product integrity.
• Prioritization and Triaging: Responds to customers' needs by answering phone calls, receiving and distributing messages and triaging requests appropriately. Understands and implements appropriate time management and prioritization of tasks ensuring optimum patient care.
• Quality Assurance: Conducts regular quality assurance inspections or audits focused on TJC and LBOP requirements, including product and equipment examinations regarding integrity and expiration. Completes logs to include refrigerator and freezer temperature monitoring and required cleaning.
• Training/Education/Professional: Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices and developments. Completes all required training, competency assessments and attends educational in-services as appropriate.
