Job summary

MarinHealth Medical Center in Greenbrae, CA, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to prepare, fill and distribute medications and sterile products under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, including IV admixtures and chemotherapy when certified.

The role requires a high school diploma, pharmacy technician program or science coursework, two years of pharmacy experience, and active registration as a Pharmacy Technician (PHRMTECH-R); IAMTAC within 30 days.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate with two years of college science or completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician program.
  • Two years pharmacy technician experience preferred; hospital pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician (PHRMTECH-R) required at hire.
  • IAMTAC certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique and sterile preparation; ability to prepare sterile solutions.
  • Experience with Pyxis Medstations and hospital pharmacy operations.

Responsibilities

  • Process orders for narcotic and non-narcotic medications for inpatients, employees, and case carts.
  • Distribute and refill medications, including narcotics, according to policy.
  • Prepare intravenous admixtures and sterile and non-sterile preparations.
  • Prepare chemotherapy only if certified to do so; maintain decontamination procedures.
  • Maintain quality control and accurate logs for drug storage and inventory.
  • Maintain computerized patient profiles and triage communications for pharmacists.
  • Keep the work area orderly, clean, and compliant with hazardous materials policies.
  • Assist Pharmacists with monthly inspections of medication storage in patient care areas.
