Responsibilities
  1. In accordance with state and federal regulations, assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assists the pharmacist in other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  2. Uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assists and coaches other pharmacy technicians in operating pharmacy systems and cashiers in operating the pharmacy cash registers.
  3. Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Customer Experience
  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive experience.
  • Shares customer service best practices with team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits, to deliver a distinctive experience.
  • Develops strong relationships with valuable customers.
Operations
  • Assists in pharmacy practice under supervision, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Performs duties such as entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicines, and checking for interactions.
  • Reports prescription errors immediately and adheres to policies regarding pharmacy errors and quality improvement.
  • Follows Good Faith Dispensing policies during prescription activities.
  • Handles sales transactions, collects cash, and assists customers in locating products.
  • Processes third-party prescription claims and performs clerical duties as assigned.
  • Supports inventory management activities, including ordering and storing pharmaceuticals, and files claims for overages, shortages, or damaged goods.
  • May assist in administering clinical services, including sample collection and coordination with healthcare providers.
  • Builds relationships with the medical community through outreach and detailing.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the Pharmacy Department.
  • Follows all company policies, maintains respectful relationships, and completes assigned tasks.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state certification. Certification may be required for promotion.
  • Attends training and continuing education to stay current in healthcare and pharmacy developments.
  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
