Responsibilities include:
  1. In accordance with state and federal regulations, assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in pharmacy practice. Assist in other Pharmacy Department duties per company policies and procedures.
  2. Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and, if PTCB certified, assist and coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers in pharmacy system and register operations.
  3. Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Customer Experience
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
  • Share customer service best practices with team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
  • Develop strong relationships with valuable customers.
Operations
  • Assist in pharmacy practice under pharmacist supervision, complying with all regulations and policies.
  • Utilize pharmacy systems to manage patient and drug information, fill prescriptions, verify accuracy, and assist with workflow scheduling.
  • Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to policies regarding pharmacy errors and quality improvement.
  • Follow Good Faith Dispensing policies during prescription activities.
  • Handle sales transactions, including cash handling and assisting customers in locating products.
  • Manage telephone communications, including those with physicians.
  • Process third-party prescription claims and perform clerical duties as assigned.
  • Support inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals, and managing related claims.
  • Assist in administering clinical services, including sample collection and coordination with healthcare providers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the local medical community through outreach and detailing.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy environment.
  • Comply with all company policies, maintain respectful relationships, and complete assigned tasks.
  • Training & Personal Development
    • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through our training program and/or state certification. Certification may be a condition for promotion.
    • Attend training sessions, acquire continuing education credits, and stay informed about healthcare and pharmacy developments.
    • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, is required.
