PHARMACY TECHNICIAN - FLEXSTAFF
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists Registered Pharmacist in the non-professional (non-judgmental) aspects of preparing and dispensing medication.
- Fills, packages, labels, and stocks unit dose carts from patient profile cards or computerized pick lists; brings carts to nursing units according to schedule. Makes other deliveries as required.
- Fills bottles or other packages with measured medication manually or mechanically.
- Labels containers of drugs according to department specifications, manually or mechanically.
- Assists in sterile techniques in clean air rooms for filling and labeling injectable prescriptions, where required.
- Assists in preparation and labeling of IV additives.
- Fills medication orders in inpatient areas.
- Packages sudden, unexpected medication requests as required.
- Assists Registered Pharmacist in maintaining records and reports.
- Maintains IV records under Pharmacist supervision.
- Maintains medication records for inpatient areas.
- Maintains records of extemporaneous medication preparations.
- Assists in maintaining statistics and records for medication orders.
- Enters refill orders into the computer system.
- Maintains inventory at pharmacy workstations.
- Transports pharmacy materials as needed.
- Records stock and inventory control.
- Assists in material control by maintaining records and inventories.
- Ensures sufficient daily inventory of supplies in all pharmacy areas.
- Performs related duties as required.
ADA Essential Functions
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Current national certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcare Association (NHA), required.
- NYSED License required.
- Minimum of two years experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Ability to learn computerized hospital pharmacy systems.
Must be able to perform physically strenuous work.
