Job summary

Temecula Valley Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in providing safe, accurate medication services within a busy hospital setting.

Under California State law, you will handle drug orders, operate Pyxis and related automation, and issue controlled substances under supervision while maintaining compliant records and inventory control. This role requires licensing and preferred hospital experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of pharmacy technician experience.
• Preferred 1-3 year of Hospital experience.
• Current CA Pharmacy Technician Certification or CA Intern Pharmacist license.
• PTCB designation of Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred or obtain certification within six (6) months of hire and maintain current thereafter

Responsibilities

• Prepare drug orders according to established policies, procedures and protocols, within the specified time frame.
• Operate automation technology under the supervision of a registered pharmacist (Pyxis, computers, unit dose machines, etc).
• Issue controlled substances under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to patient care areas and maintain records as required by law.
• Perform essential functions relating to drug purchasing and inventory control

Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for supporting the pharmacists in their duties by providing technical assistance in accordance with department policy and California State law. They will maintain close working communication with pharmacists and other Pharmacy technicians regarding the various department programs.

Essential Job Duties

Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for preparing drug orders according to established policies, procedures and protocols, and within specified time frame. The Technician operates automation technology, under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, (Pyxis, computers, unit dose machines, etc). The Pharmacy Tech issues controlled substances, under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, to patient care areas and maintains records as required by law. Performs the essential functions relating to drug purchasing and inventory control.
