Job summary

Advantage Healthcare Services is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in dispensing medications, manage inventory, and deliver exceptional customer service in retail, hospital, or clinical settings.

You will prepare and label prescriptions, assist with inventory, process insurance claims, and help ensure compliance with regulatory standards while providing compassionate care to patients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred.
• Active pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) preferred or required depending on state regulations.
• Minimum of 1–2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prescription Preparation and Dispensing: prepare, label, and dispense medications.
• Assist pharmacists with dispensing and inventory management.
• Accurately measure, count, and label medications for patient prescriptions.
• Operate pharmacy equipment such as pill counters and label printers.
• Customer Service: provide friendly and efficient service to patients and providers.
• Answer inquiries regarding prescription status, instructions, and services.
• Handle prescription pickup/drop-off and payment processing; verify patient information.
• Conduct regular inventory audits; manage ordering and stocking of meds and supplies.
• Enter prescription data into the pharmacy management system; maintain patient profiles.
• Process insurance claims and resolve billing issues with insurers.
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for dispensing and-records.

Responsibilities

• Prescription Preparation and Dispensing
• Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescription medications
• Accurately measure, count, and label medications for patient prescriptions
• Operate pharmacy equipment such as pill counters and label printers
• Customer Service
• Provide friendly and efficient customer service to patients and healthcare providers
• Answer patient inquiries regarding prescription status, medication instructions, and pharmacy services
• Handle prescription pick-up and drop-off, ensuring accurate patient information and payment processing
• Perform patient outreach and communicate with patients effectively to close gaps in their medication therapy.
• Inventory Management
• Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications and supplies
• Conduct regular inventory audits to maintain accurate stock levels and prevent shortages
• Monitor expiration dates and remove expired or recalled medications from inventory
• Assist with the organization and cleanliness of the pharmacy storage areas
• Data Entry and Record-Keeping
• Enter prescription information into the pharmacy management system accurately and efficiently
• Maintain accurate patient profiles and medication records
• Process insurance claims and resolve billing issues with insurance companies
• Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to prescription processing and record-keeping
• Medication Safety and Quality Assurance
• Adhere to safety protocols and best practices in medication handling and dispensing
• Assist in monitoring for potential medication errors and discrepancies
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance pharmacy services
• Support pharmacists in conducting medication reviews and utilization reviews
• Supportive Duties
• Assist pharmacists with administrative tasks, including scheduling and workflow management
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on pharmacy policies and procedures
• Provide training and guidance to new pharmacy technicians and interns
• Perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacist or Pharmacist-in-Charge
