Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital—Orlando Central is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for a per diem role. You will support daily pharmacy operations under a licensed pharmacist, perform medication prep, and ensure accurate medication delivery to patient areas.

The position emphasizes independent work within policy, with completion of medication orders, billing support, and narcotics controls as part of daily duties. High school diploma or GED required; pharmacy technician certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred unless required by the State.

Responsibilities

• You will handle the daily operations of the pharmacy within established policies and guidelines.
• You will work under the direction of a licensed pharmacist, and you are able to work independently.
• You will not provide direct care to patients.
• Picking up drug orders at the nursing station and preparing medications under the supervision of the pharmacist on shift.
• Delivering the appropriate quantities of the medication to the correct patient area(s).
• Assisting with accurate billing and crediting of patient medications.
• Maintaining drugs in the pharmacy in accordance with the Drug Formulary, to include ordering, receiving, storing and filling out all necessary paperwork.
• Monitoring doses administered according to the Medication Administration Record on the narcotics sign-out record.
• Maintaining all forms and reports necessary for the control of narcotics and other controlled substances.

We specialize in helping critically ill patients breathe, speak, eat, walk and think as independently as possible. Our hospital also offers medical rehabilitation through Select Medical Rehabilitation, a 32-bed acute rehabilitation unit. The unit is designed to meet an individual’s rehabilitation needs and goals through a range of programs and services.
