Job summary

Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center, part of NYC Health + Hospitals, seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in prescription processing, dispensing and patient safety under supervision.

Licensed NYSED Pharmacy Technicians may perform these functions; new hires must be licensed. Duties include validating identity, processing prescriptions, stocking, unit doses, and clerical tasks.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice as a Registered Pharmacy Technician by the NYSED.

Responsibilities

• Validates patient identity and screens prescriptions for completeness and payment status.
• Receives prescriptions, types labels and affixes labels on containers.
• Keys prescription data for pharmacist review and retrieval from systems.
• Obtains drugs from stock and returns them to stock.
• Counts dosage units and prepares unit doses for dispensing.
• Performs pharmacy-related clerical duties and participates in staff meetings.
