Job summary

Henry Ford Health Jackson Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Long Term Care to assist in dispensing and processing prescriptions for patients in Jackson and Metro Detroit.

Under supervision of a registered pharmacist, you will enter prescription data, handle billing, stock inventory, and interact with the public. A Michigan Pharmacy Technician license is required and a $2,500 sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of six (6) months of retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• Requires valid State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician license.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and prepackages medication for subsequent administration under supervision of pharmacists.
• Enters prescription information and processes prescriptions in the computer.
• Assists in the orientation and training of new staff.
• Obtains all personal and insurance information from new customers and enters it into the computer.
• Takes prescription refill orders over the phone from customers.
• Collects monies owed for prescription retail sales or OTC sales.
• Straightens and inventories all over the counter medications and sundry items.
• Maintains appropriate records of medication dispensed.
• Helps in the reprocessing of rejected prescriptions.

** GENERAL SUMMARY:**

Location: Jackson

Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, assists in the distribution and processing of prescriptions and the sale of over-the-counter medications enters prescription data into computer. Performs billings and file maintenance. Receives payments for prescriptions and other purchases. Assists in the stocking and storage of inventory. Interacts and communicates with the public. Reports to pharmacists.
