Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for providing timely preparation and distribution of medications and IV solutions including chemotherapeutic and bio therapeutic agents within the hospital in conjunction with established guidelines, policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.

Nature and Scope:

Under the direct supervision of the pharmacist, performs functions related to dispensing chemotherapy, bio therapy, hazardous, and other medications. Proficient in sterile products preparation, following USP 797/800 guidelines. Provides coverage in pharmacy operation areas as needed. Ensures optimal patient care by recognizing differences in drug therapy across patient age groups. Handles inventory, billing, and maintains pharmacy equipment. Trains new technicians. Works varying shifts, including weekends and holidays, and may require overtime. Must be able to work in inpatient and outpatient environments, maintaining thorough knowledge of medications, sterile preparation, and pharmacy procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. This position does not provide direct patient care.

Minimum Qualifications:

Computer / TypingBasic computer skills; 30 WPM typing speed; able to complete online learning and access digital resources within 90 days.
