    Position Summary

    The Non-Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician prepares compounded non-sterile products under the direction of a compounding pharmacist.

    Shifts 9:00am - 6:00pm and 1:30pm - 10:00pm


    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Completes compounding and other pharmacy records as indicated
    • Weighs, measures, and mixes raw material ingredients, monitors agitation, heating and cooling temperatures, and other parameters to ensure finished batches of creams, gels, capsules, and tablets meet specifications
    • Transfers materials into properly labeled, approved containers
    • Cleans and sanitizes equipment and completes all required documentation to maintain compliance with USP 795 (non-sterile compounding) and company's Quality System
    • Prepares labels and picks in accordance with the dispensing order
    • Prepares both prepackaged and unit dose drugs in accordance with the dispensing order
    • Prepares and generates batch for preparation of non-sterile mixtures
    • Organizes assigned workload to facilitate its accomplishment
    • Ensures the compounding room and related equipment are cleaned and maintained per organizational policy and procedures
    • Participates with the pharmacist and pharmacy manager in monitoring/ maintaining drug inventories and preparing orders for drugs and related supplies
    • Participates in department QA activities as requested

The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

    • Ability to perform rudimentary mathematical calculations as related to compounding or manufacturing processes
    • Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time for consecutive days
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
    • Must be able to work standing and walking

    Experience and Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalency , required
    • Previous compounding experience, preferred
    • 2+ years of experience working as compounding pharmacy technician preferred
    • Texas State license as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing
    • Certified Pharmacy Technician ( CPhT ) or Technician Trainee
