Job summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a Nuclear Pharmacy Technician in Indianapolis, Indiana. The role focuses on preparing radiopharmaceuticals, drawing doses, and maintaining strict QA under regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; state licensing preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer service orientation and ability to work with diverse teams.
• Manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Pharmacy Technician experience preferred; IV or clean room experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare prescriptions and obtain pharmacist approval.
• Draw doses into syringes or vials.
• Perform quality assurance on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals per guidelines.
• Receive, document, and store pharmaceuticals per DoT and company guidelines.
• Maintain computer inventory and records for Rx drugs.
• Assist and/or perform labeling of blood cell products.
• General lab and facility clean up.
• May perform clerical duties including daily records and billing.
• M ake deliveries to accounts with company vehicles as needed.
• Speak with customers and address questions via telephone.
• Work under close supervision with supervisor approval for deviations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Shift/Schedule

• 40 hours per week
• Monday - Friday 1:00am - 9:00am
• Weekend rotations - every 3rd or 4th weekend
• Holiday (1- 2 holidays per year) and on call (1- 2 times per month) rotations
• Candidate must be flexible to work different shifts, schedules, holidays, days and overtime as needed.

What does Nuclear Pharmacy contribute to Cardinal Health?

Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy

Responsibilities

• Prepares prescriptions by typing labels and obtain Staff Pharmacist approval
• Draws doses into either a syringe or vial
• Performs quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Federal, State, Company and manufacturer's guidelines
• Receives, documents, and stores incoming and outgoing pharmaceuticals according to the Department of Transportation and Company guidelines
• Maintains computer inventory and records to ensure proper utilization of materials and accounting for Rx drugs
• Assists and/or perform in the labeling of blood cell products
• Performs general laboratory and facility clean up
• May perform clerical and administrative services including maintenance of daily records, preparation of receipts, report preparation, and maintenance of billing records
• Makes deliveries to accounts with company vehicles as needed
• Speaks with customers and address questions and/or concerns via telephone
• Works under close supervision. All work is reviewed for accuracy. Any deviations from the norm are approved by the supervisor before proceeding
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid driver's license
• Minimum of 18 years of age due to driving of company owned vehicle required
• Registration with the State Board of Pharmacy, state licensure as a Pharmacy Technician or PTCB preferred
• Ability to manage weight up to 75 pounds
• Experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferredPrevious IV or clean room environment experience is a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting, holding of small objects, and dispensing doses
• Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks
• Comfortable working in a nuclear environment
• Ability to work weekends, on call, holidays, overtime, alternate days/shifts, or be in a rotation
• Intermediate computer skills (ability to use computers and tablets)
• May require vendor credentialing
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred

Pay rate: $20.00 per hour
