Job summary

Cardinal Health in Ohio is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for nuclear pharmacy operations, drawing, dispensing and packaging radiopharmaceuticals under licensed supervision.

You will handle labels, certify doses, perform QA tests, assist with daily operations, and support inventory, delivery planning and customer communication. Requires Ohio Certified Pharmacy Technician, strong customer service, and ability to work overnight shifts in a nuclear environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • Ohio Certified Pharmacy Technician is required.
  • IV or clean room experience is a plus.
  • Strong customer service skills and communication ability.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle use may be required.
  • Intermediate computer skills and flexible shifts.
  • Comfortable in a nuclear environment and with repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Draw, dispense and package radiopharmaceuticals under supervision.

  • Maintain safety and infection control procedures daily.
  • Assist in staff training and development of technicians.
  • Support dispatchers and drivers, including occasional deliveries.

What Nuclear Pharmacy Contributes To Cardinal Health

Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines; may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy.


Schedule


  • 40 hours weekly

  • This is an overnight schedule that operates Sunday - Thursday. Schedule times vary, but shifts typically start between 10:30pm-12:30am

  • Example shifts include, but are not limited to: 10:30 PM - 6:30 AM, 11 PM - 7 AM, 11:30 PM - 7:30 AM, 12 AM - 8 AM, 12:30 AM - 8:30 AM.

  • Candidate must be flexible to work different days, hours and schedules based on business need.

Responsibilities

Under the immediate direction of a qualified licensed Staff Pharmacist, you will be trained to draw, dispense, and package radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with the regulations of the State Board of Pharmacy. Many of your duties will include:



  • Prepares prescriptions by typing labels and obtain Staff Pharmacist approval

  • Draws doses into either a syringe or vial

  • Performs quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Federal, State, Company and manufacturer's guidelines

  • Assists pharmacist in preparing facility for daily operations through cleaning, equipment testing, maintenance of inventory, restocking, and preparing reports and other records.

  • Follows standard operating procedures to organize, prepare and dispense radioactive medications, as specified by manufacturers and in line with customer needs.

  • Acts as a shift lead for pharmacy technicians and follows standard operating procedures to organize, prepare and dispense radioactive medications, as specified by manufacturers and in line with customer needs.

  • Collects and processes customer orders to ensure efficient communication and timely delivery of medications to patients.

  • Performs administrative pharmacy tasks, such as billing, answering questions and assisting customers to facilitate pharmacy operations and customer satisfaction.

  • Maintains pharmacy safety through following and recording completion of daily infection control procedures.

  • Assists in training and development of staff through mentorship of pharmacy tech trainees.

  • Assists dispatchers and drivers in preparing packages for delivery and on occasion may make deliveries using company vehicle.


Qualifications


  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred

  • Ohio Certified Pharmacy Technician required

  • Previous IV or clean room environment experience is a plus

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting, holding of small objects, and dispensing doses

  • Ability to manage weight up to 75 pounds

  • May require vendor credentialing

  • Valid driver's license

  • Minimum of 18 years of age due to driving of company owned vehicle

  • Intermediate computer skills (ability to use computers and tablets)

  • Flexibility to work various shifts

  • Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks

  • Comfortable working in a nuclear environment


Anticipated hourly range:

$19.70 per hour - $28.10 per hour
