Job summary

Cardinal Health's Nuclear Pharmacy team in Indianapolis is seeking a Pharmacy Technician. You will assist under supervision to draw, dispense and package radiopharmaceuticals, ensure compliance with state and federal rules, and maintain accurate records.

The role requires driving, lifting up to 75 pounds, and flexibility to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations. The position offers benefits from day one, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO, with education

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license.
• State Board of Pharmacy registration or licensure preferred; PTCB optional.
• Experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred; IV/clean room experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare prescriptions by typing labels and obtaining Staff Pharmacist approval.
• Draw doses into syringes or vials.
• Perform quality assurance on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals per guidelines.
• Receive, document and store pharmaceuticals per regulations.
• Maintain inventory records and Rx drug accounting.
• Assist with labeling blood cell products and general lab duties.
• Deliver to accounts using company vehicles as needed.
• Answer customer questions by phone and in person.

Job description

• Holiday (1- 2 holidays per year) and on call (1- 2 times per month) rotations
• Candidate must be flexible to work different shifts, schedules, holidays, days and overtime as needed.

Shift/Schedule

• 40 hours per week
• Monday - Friday 1:00am - 9:00am
• Weekend rotations - every 3rd or 4th weekend
• Holiday (1- 2 holidays per year) and on call (1- 2 times per month) rotations
• Candidate must be flexible to work different shifts, schedules, holidays, days and overtime as needed.

What does Nuclear Pharmacy contribute to Cardinal Health?

Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy

Responsibilities

Under the immediate direction of a qualified licensed Staff Pharmacist, you will be trained to draw, dispense, and package radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with the regulations of the State Board of Pharmacy. Many of your duties will include:

• Prepares prescriptions by typing labels and obtain Staff Pharmacist approval
• Draws doses into either a syringe or vial
• Performs quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Federal, State, Company and manufacturer's guidelines
• Receives, documents, and stores incoming and outgoing pharmaceuticals according to the Department of Transportation and Company guidelines
• Maintains computer inventory and records to ensure proper utilization of materials and accounting for Rx drugs
• Assists and/or perform in the labeling of blood cell products
• Performs general laboratory and facility clean up
• May perform clerical and administrative services including maintenance of daily records, preparation of receipts, report preparation, and maintenance of billing records
• Makes deliveries to accounts with company vehicles as needed
• Speaks with customers and address questions and/or concerns via telephone
• Works under close supervision. All work is reviewed for accuracy. Any deviations from the norm are approved by the supervisor before proceeding
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid driver's license
• Minimum of 18 years of age due to driving of company owned vehicle required
• Registration with the State Board of Pharmacy, state licensure as a Pharmacy Technician or PTCB preferred
• Ability to manage weight up to 75 pounds
• Experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred
• Previous IV or clean room environment experience is a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting, holding of small objects, and dispensing doses
• Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks
• Comfortable working in a nuclear environment
• Ability to work weekends, on call, holidays, overtime, alternate days/shifts, or be in a rotation
• Intermediate computer skills (ability to use computers and tablets)
• May require vendor credentialing
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred

Pay rate: $20.00 per hour
