Job Description

The Pharmacy Technician dispenses and compounds medications, assisting in retail and infusion pharmacy functions. Responsibilities include providing quality patient care, processing and interpreting physician orders, and preparing sterile products, including cytotoxic medications. Follow departmental procedures for inventory, claims, and administrative tasks.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma; some college preferred, with aptitude for math.
  • Michigan Pharmacy Technician Licensure.
Skills & Abilities
  • Experience in retail or infusion pharmacy, claim reconciliation, or accounting helpful.
Primary Duties
  • Input data into pharmacy system, create labels, retrieve medications under supervision, ensuring compliance with laws.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Prepare sterile compounded products using aseptic techniques under supervision.
  • Follow safety protocols for handling cytotoxic agents.
  • Manage inventory, handle inquiries, resolve issues promptly.
  • Process claims and charges accurately.
  • Review physician orders, check for allergies and interactions, and manage medication inventories.
  • Handle prescriptions and refills, complete related paperwork.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
