The University of Virginia is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to provide pharmacy services and medication management in specialty areas, including pharmacy automation. The role involves troubleshooting, training, and maintaining regulatory requirements for medication security in a patient care setting.
Provides pharmacy services and medication management in specialty areas including pharmacy automation, including the demonstration of advanced technical skills and ownership for the work area. This job requires the application and interpretation of policies and procedures and the use of independent judgment in a patient care setting and supports the pharmacy enterprise.
Under general supervision troubleshoots pharmacy automation problems along with associated systems and works with organizational teams to seek resolution as needed
Under general supervision trains staff on departmental systems including pharmacy automation operations
Under general supervision supports medication software set up and optimization
Sets up and distributes medication to various areas in Medical Center, maintaining regulatory requirements for medication security
Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirement
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience: 2 years of IT Support experience OR 3 years of Pharmacy Technician experience required
Licensure: Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy within 2 years of hire required. Must register as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee upon hire with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy. Persons enrolled in a pharmacy technician training program must obtain a pharmacy technician trainee registration if they will be performing the duties of a pharmacy technician.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires sitting for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
