Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist licensed pharmacists in preparing medications, maintaining drug inventories, and delivering meds to patient care areas across sites in New Jersey.

The role requires strong English communication, multitasking ability, and teamwork; a NJ Pharmacy Technician license is required with certification within six months for eligible hires. Travel to different sites may be needed to maximize scheduling opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Effective oral and written English communication.

Responsibilities

• Inventory - Maintains accurate inventories of medications and supplies.
• Regulatory compliance - Maintains a safe and clean work area.
• Communication and teamwork - Interacts with team members, physicians and patients.
• Prepares intravenous admixtures under supervision of a licensed pharmacist; labels and dispenses medications.
• Assists in compounding medications per standard practices.
• Delivers and fills medications to nursing units and reconciles narcotic discrepancies.
• Loads and unloads medications into ADC with barcode scanning.
• Answers phones and directs calls appropriately.
• Prepares hazardous medications for administration to patients under pharmacist supervision.
• Maintains paperwork and records for medications.
• Participates in quality assurance and safety activities per regulations.
• Assists in data collection used by pharmacists for monitoring therapy.
• Performs duties safely and reports hazards.
• Adheres to organizational competencies and standards.
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
